| About MARILYN ROVITHIS |

Marilyn was born in St. Stephen New Brunswick (Feb. 1941). She grew up in Black’s Harbour. Her travels in Canada, Europe, Mexico, Venezuela and the U.S. have contributed to her love of painting original scenes of places she has visited and people she has met. In 2003 Marilyn visited Greece for the first time. The beauty and vibrant colours of Greece are reflected in her many painting of the Greek Isles.

Her paintings are done with palette knife – oils on canvas. This method provides her with a greater freedom of expression and gives her paintings real depth. Her unique and distinctive style provides a special character to her art. Most of her paintings are made from actual scenes.

She has had her paintings exhibited at The Salt Water Gallery” in Pocologan N.B. “Covent Garden Market”, “Maritimers Club” and “Art in The Park” (Springbank Park), all in London Ont. Several of her paintings are currently on display at “Merle Norman’s” in Westmount Mall. In retrospect the only regret that Marilyn has about her art is that she waited until she retired to commit the time and effort to her paintings.

Ontario Trillium Funding
A major reason for this year’s expansion is the awarding of a Trillium Grant from the Province of Ontario. The grant has allowed festival organizers to expand the festival to an all day affair.
